Great product for the money Jul 29, 2010
By AtlCollege07 I purchased this speaker system a few weeks ago and I must say I'm impressed. The speakers look nice: they have a clean, black finish, and are small enough to fit almost anywhere. But what really counts is the sound quality. I'm pushing them with a good-quality Denon receiver and the sound quality is fabulous for the price. I went to several stores listening to systems costing much more than the $410.95 I paid for this and there was really no comparison.
The highs and lows have a nice blend. In many small systems you get a separation, with the sub picking up a lot of the mid-range sounds and everything ends up muddy-sounding, but I haven't noticed that at all with this system. The highs are awesome, and the bass works well both with movies and music. I have my receiver programmed to tweak the sound between music and movies, but that's just to accommodate my own taste. And when you crank the sound up, whoa! These little speakers pack a nice punch for their size. For what it's worth, I don't see how you can do any better for your money.
Pros: - Clean highs - Nice lows - Good blend of sound - Looks nice - Perfect size for my condo
Cons: - Wish it came with a wireless module for the rear speakers - I had to tweak the sound between music and movies (but this isn't a big deal at all) - I played around with the positioning of the sub because it made some things rattle (although this could be a pro since it shows off the power it has)
At the end of the day, I would definitely recommend this product.

A Lot of Sound for the Size Nov 18, 2009

I've had these Def Tech speakers for 6 months now. They are hooked into a Denon 1910 AVR kicking out 90w per channel. I was deciding between the Klipsch 5.1 Flat Panel Theater Pkg and these, but liked the sound quality from the Def Techs better. What amazes me about these speakers is the clarity of sound. Whether I'm watching a movie or listening to music, the sound is very clear and crisp and you would swear you were listening to a set of larger speakers. The only reason I gave this a 4 star rating instead of a 5 is because the subwoofer does not have an on/off switch. You have to unplug it. It is an inconvenience. Overall, I would highly recommend these speakers if you are on a tight budget and want to get the best bang for your buck for sound and space limitations.

Sweet sounding little bricks Sep 17, 2010

I must preface my review by saying that I am using the Pro Cinema 60.6 as part of a 7.1 kit that includes 12 year old DefTech BP6's for fronts. I listen to a lot of music so having the added punch to left and right is a plus. The 60.6 satellites are used strictly as LR and rear surround. Room size is 15x25ft and the combination creates a very full and accurate sound @ -25db and numbing at -5db. When combined with the Denon AVR-2310 using Audessy setup mic, the amp crossover sets the satellites at 120hz and the center at 110hz.
The subwoofer is compact and lightly powered by today's standards (150 watts), but has yet to distort while being able to shake the couch comfortably at 8ft. Having a wider bandwidth set of fronts allows me to set the on-board crossover @ the bottom 40hz. Obviously using the 60.6 satellites as fronts may require a higher crossover. I experimented a little and found a little mud at higher frequencies (>100hz) but 0 "boominess" thanks to the tight construction.
The construction is everything I expected from DefTech. My old BP6's have been moved from place to place, dropped on their sides, blasted deafeningly loud death metal for 12 years and are as crisp and clean as the day I bought them. My first impression of the ProCinema 60.6 is that they are every bit as durable. The unique slant to the tops make them aesthetically pleasing when mounted on the ceiling with simple plant hooks, a delightfully inexpensive option to professional mounts. ($8 total vs. $100 for 2 sets of brand name mounts).
This is a solid system at an accessible price. The set would undoubtedly work in a larger room then what I have set them in. Highly recommended.

Little size BIG AMAZING SOUND!!! Jul 01, 2010
By cgham82 These speakers are truely amazing. I have never experienced such clarity and room filling sound from such a small package. I have always used large floor standing speakers or book shelf speakers to listen to my music and movies and was a little more than hesitant to purchase a small sub/sat system. I had read reviews all over the internet looking at speaker packages from Klipsch, Mirage, Energy, Polk Audio, JBL, as well as a few others. I came across the mention of these Def Tech speakers and was hooked. When the box arrived and I saw how small they were I instantly starting getting nervous again. Let me tell you once I went through the customary steps of setting up the receiver to handle the smaller speakers once I turned the system on my jaw hit the floor. I couldn't believe how big the sound was from such a small package. Usually you get this tin sound from smaller speakers but with these they sound full and do not give the feeling that they are being over driven even when at higher volumes. I just can't get over these little guys. Bose has nothing on these. I would have gone for one of the more expensive sets from Def Tech, but with the TV purchase taking up so much of the budget I had to settle. I am so glad I got these cause they are definitely not settling. Go ahead, stop reading this review and purchase them because I am done writing and will be cranking these up for some time.

Second Time Was a Charm Apr 19, 2012
By Robert W Parker The first Pro Cinema 60.6 system sent had a sub-woofer that hummed really loud. The tech at Definitive Technology said something was wrong with the sub's amp.
Amazon was great they sent a call tag for the system. I was fortunate Amazon had another system available and was on sale for $50 less with free shipping.
I have the speakers set up now and I am impressed and no hum in the sub. I hooked up the speakers in the method #1 the manual recomended for a Home Theater. This really sounds better. The claim is it inhanced the Dolby Digital and I have to agree.
I would have to say these speakers sound better than my Polk RM705 surround speakers I have in our Theater Room upstairs.
The sub-woofer does not have an off and on. This does not seem to be a problem as it shuts off by itself.
