Sound Improvement / Reduction Mar 19, 2010
By Remember 9-11 I bought this to improve the cab sound in my Dakota Quad Cab when I was installing new speakers (my wife blew out the old ones!!). It was very easy to work with and install. All I needed was a utility knife to cut the mat to the sizes I needed for the install. It will stay on after it is in place but it is forgiving on install. This means you can make adjustments with the piece you are working with before you roller it down. Using the roller tool (sold separately)was worth the price of admission. It definitely made install easier and was able to clear any air pockets as well as give excellent adhesion.
RESULTS: After the install there was a quick difference that could be heard. First thing you noticed is that when the doors are closed they sound more like a luxury car door closing. No more hollow sound, they sounded more solid. The sound in the cab is reduced and this is noticeable when no radio is on. Road noise has been reduced and it is a much nicer environment. As for the music...much nicer listening and clearer due to no competing noises from the road. Everyone who enters the vehicle likes it and knows there is a difference.
NOTES: I installed this on the inner door and the outer door. Some sites and installers will tell you this is unnecessary but if you are in the door why not. The thin sheet metal is all that is between you and the road. This pack covered two doors in the front. I bought two boxes to cover all four doors. It took one afternoon to install and it was complete. This is not a hard project at all. If you can get the door panels on and off you can install this product.
PRICE: I checked all over the internet and found that Amazon had the best price for this. From my experience this is likely to continue. Free shipping just solidified the deal. Check what you might need and compare the 4 sheet and 9 sheet boxes. Most of the time 2 4 sheet boxes will be cheaper per square inch and get the job done. Check prices and decide before you purchase.
OVERALL: I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone. It does what it is advertised to and is very easy to install. It will not make much difference if your vehicle has a lot of soundproofing already but if your car does not then this will do wonders. My truck had some very small pieces of factory mat in the outer door metal already. They were just covered by the Dynamat. You may find the same thing during your install. They must think the truck needed some. I just took it up a notch.

Rattles are for babies Dec 23, 2007
By Sean P. Logue
"If you can't win, change the rules."
This has a lot of uses beyond car applications. I used a sheet of it on the drywall behind in-wall speakers to cut the amount of sound radiating through the back wall and tighten the sound. I used a sheet of it inside a computer case, to eliminate a tinny rattle that came from the case vibration while it was on. You can even put pieces of it on the inside of washing machine or dryer panels to make them quieter.
It does have one drawback, and that's the fact that once you stick it on something, you will not be able to get it off without making a big mess. It is essentially tar with a foil outer cover, and trying to get it off just leaves a bunch of sticky tar behind. So, choose the place you want it carefully before sticking it down!

Works Great, but not wonders Apr 06, 2008
By pet1700 I purchased 2 dynamat xtreme door kits and 2 (12sq) dynaliner to do all doors in my 2006 maxima and the rear deck. So far, I completed three doors and there is plenty left for the last door and rear deck.
Results: There is a big difference...no rattles when I am listening to my music. Now you could hear tighter bass and clear highs. Of course, now the doors have that nice heavy feel to them, and close with a nice "thump".
The road noise did decrease, but not as much as I wanted. I guess if I used multiple layers and covered every inch of metal, it would probably make a bigger difference.
I was more concerned with rattles that ruined my music listening experience, and dynamat performed great in that department.
Overall: I highly recommend.

Decent price for modest quantity of material Dec 22, 2008
By OtherHand Be aware there is an enormous amount of hype out there regarding sound deading materials. Does this stuff work? Sort of. If you have an older low-end, rattley vehicle, it will certainly help. But if you have a newer high end car, not so much. I installed a lot of the Dynamat Xtreme and it's good stuff and easy to work with. It does help to kill buzzing and resonating from high power speaker installations. Will it make you go "Wow!!"? Uh, no. But you'll probably say, "Hey, that's a bit better". Amazon's price on this is usually pretty good, and free Super Saver shipping makes it even better.

It is OK if you have more money than sense. Dec 13, 2009

It works well, I am surprised that someone else does not make it[cheaper]. It is a very low tech material. We used it in the doors of a friends car when speakers were replaced and spent over $100. I bought three cans of rubberized undercoat at Wally-World for about $5 per can and my doors were just as quiet. I guess it is just personal preference and economic priority, for me the extra $85 in the pocket was better. My friend, well he spends money like a drunken sailor...not to offend any drunken sailors out there.
