Absolute Junk Jun 01, 2011
By greenhornet Do NOT waste your money! The very first thing I did was pull the end right off the antenna when I extended it. The workmanship is a joke: cheap even for Chinese standards... The knobs pull off like mad, the handle broke within a week. And does it get reception? If you're lucky you'll get two stations. The Weather station was all pure, ultra-loud static, and when accidently turned on guaranteed to send you and your cat to the ceiling.

Got it's first test the other night during a tornado Apr 12, 2011
By Justin I got this radio about a month or two ago I got this radio at a local store because I wanted something for my shop. At 2 AM Monday morning, our power went out as a tornado was bearing down on us in a small East Texas town. I have a surplus of batteries for just such an occasion, so I began plugging them into the unit and it instantly came to life. I could listen to WBAP clearly and got instant up to the minute weather information. The NOAA weather radio option is easy to use. I dialed it in using the knob on the back and had instant tornado data. After the threat was over and the tornado died, we turned it over to a country station and listened to music until we fell asleep. This is one of the best radios I have ever owned. It's small, portable and lightweight. I love it and I am so glad that I purchased it. It's a great emergency radio and should be a part of any emergency kit. It's low cost and runs for a long time on 4 batteries. I will keep mine around.

Weather Station works for me Apr 09, 2011
By jimrno Just bought this from overstock.com (paid more than here) Radio has 5 star rating on overstock.com. The NOAA weather picks up fine here in Reno NV area. Can't beat it for the price

Emerson Weather Clock Radio rules Oct 26, 2011
By advid reader
"reading keeps the mind young"
The radio works well; tunes into all of the stations that my car does. The NOAA weather forecast begins with the push of the weather button & it's loud & clear. I like that it takes AA batteries - not C or D like some of the other brands. There is a possibility of a hurricane "Rina" this weekend and that was the reason for the purchase. The only drawback is that there is not a siren that sounds in an emergency. I need to consider if I will keep this particular model or go with an emergency alert siren type radio with NOAA broadcasts. I highly recommend for anyone who wants a radio and NOAA stations without an alert siren.

NOAA tuning knob is on the back Sep 16, 2011
By Satch J. I bought this for emergencies, like a lot of other people. I paid about $20 for it, and it's low on quality for that price point. It does work, however, and was not a waste of money.
The speaker is fine for information, but not so much for music. The design of the weather radio function is absurd. You have to push a button on the top to engage weather mode, at which point it begins blasting reports at peak volume if you're on frequency. I quickly learned to turn the volume knob down just as I hit the button in order to avoid that. The radio only picks up a narrow range of the NOAA band, and there is a tuning knob on the back of the unit that allows you to find the precise frequency. I suspect that a number of people aren't aware of that, mostly because it's entirely counter-intuitive, and may think that the function is broken as a result. It probably isn't.
One small thing that is decidely good about the piece is that it will run on three AA batteries. I never would have considered that a benefit until I went looking for batteries ahead of a recent hurricane. Apparently most people need C and D batteries for emergencies, because AA's and smaller were all that was left. Good to know.
Despite the poor design and generally cheap feel of the radio, I can say that does what it's supposed to do. If I'd pulled this out of a bargin bin, I'd think I struck gold. After paying full retail for it, I'm merely not dissatisfied. It's fine.
