Not much of a life expectancy. Jun 03, 2010
By Jennifer We got this for use in our daughter's room to play music while she sleeps at night. I figured it would be a nice, small boombox that could last for a few years, and it's portable. And hey, the price wasn't too bad!
We've officially been through FOUR of these in two years. The last one we got barely lasted for five months. Even when treated with the most delicate care, they seem to give out with no apparent reason. Do yourself a favor and just pay a little bit more for a better box. It's much cheaper in the end than plopping down $20-30 every six months when this thing dies.

No headphone jack, poor sound quality Oct 06, 2010
By S.B I have this same boombox but mine is more black (model MP8806)
I bought this from Walmart and I was looking for an affordable boombox to listen to some audio book cds while working. Well this was affordable but the quality is not good.
For one thing there is no headphone jack for my daughter to listen to her disney cds quietly, I thought all boomboxes had headphone jacks?? I had one on my old one 20 years ago!
The sound quality is very muffled and hollow sounding. NOT GOOD!
I would not recommended this. Keep looking for a better deal or just pay the extra money for one with a 5 star rating. That's why I'm on Amazon right now.

Not worth it Jul 26, 2010
By mmptld Has sat on a shelf for less than 6 months, never moved or carried around, used to play CDs, usually the same one over and over, now CDs not recognized at all. Radio plays fine, but cleaning CD, compressed air, NOTHING makes it recognize CDs. JUNK!

JUNK Jan 25, 2011

""Say what you are. Not what you would like to be. Not what you have to be. Just say what you are. And what you are is good enough." -John Cassavetes"
Yes yes, I know that boom boxes aren't always a bad buy, considering if you have kids or you just want to listen to talk radio or something in your garage. Not everybody is an audiophile and doesn't care about high fidelity sound and all of that jazz. So don't worry, I'm not panning this system because it doesn't give out crystal highs or booming bass, etc etc. Rather, I'm panning it for it's awful sound, no features whatsoever, and the fact that it's akin to the, where's it's pretty much completely useless except to those who have the budget of a third world country. This is a waste of twenty dollars, and for the love of Christ, even boom box buyers deserve something better.
Sound quality? Good lord, this is TERRIBLE. The sound is awful, and as other reviewers have said, it sounds extremely tinny., washed out, and grainy No bass here, and really, the sound of this basically is muddled and swampy, tinny and washed out in a very bad way. It sounds like it's coming out of a closed box. The pathetic thing can't handle loud volumes to save it's life either, as it will most likely NOT go through that garage very well, and if it does, it certainly won't sound clear. For a twenty dollar boom box, well, you get what you payed for, so don't be a sucker. Twenty of your hard earned dollars for this junk? Utterly unacceptable.
Lame features too. You have the simple programming, and a generic radio. That's it. I'm not sure about you, but I think boom boxes are decent buys for attractive and fun features that will most likely entertain your kids. Alas, nothing but junk that you already have in your cheap portable CD player. Oh, and by the way, there is No headphone jack, so you can't listen to anything in private, or your kids can't listen to anything in private either. What a joke!
Tell you what, if you already have a portable CD player, buy a cheap pair of 2.1 speakers from a company such as Logitech, Altec Lansing, or Creative, and just use the headphone output with your CD player, and BAM! you have a budget sound that actually doesn't sound like it's coming out of a well. And just remember that you can use your cheap AM/FM radio gadget that you got for free and used that one too! Or your cheap cassette walkman that you hopefully still have twenty years later. Remember that a headphone output can basically be used with anything, so use that advice and run with it. You may have to spend a bit more money, but at least you will be thankful and won't get frustrated and stop using the product after a week.
Bad, even for boom box standards. Don't buy this, period. Save your twenty dollars on food instead. Don't let this monstrosity be your child's first audio equipment. Your child deserves better, and you deserve better.

Good so far Oct 19, 2011
By Faustina I just acquired this boombox as a replacement for my last one that crashed. For the price, I wasn't expecting a great performance, but after only a week of using it I must say I am pleased. My main concern was the sound quality because I play a lot of music at the indoor pool facility where I work, but I was impressed with how well it did in such a large area. I'm not sure yet just how long this player will last, but while it works, I'm happy!
