A great case and a great company Feb 23, 2008
By Eric This case makes the iPod very easy to grip. The belt clip rotates well and grips well. The rubber protects the iPod very well from drops. The only thing that is not protected is the click wheel. When I travel, I keep the iPod in cheap camera case with the headphones so that it is protected.
When I first received my TouchSkin, the clip was not securing tightly to the case because the piece that holds it was stuck. I sent the company an e-mail. A few days later, they sent me THREE replacement clips for free. This level of customer service is not seen these days so I am very happy with my purchase.

Good, but not perfect Apr 05, 2008
By Mark Dawson My first disappointment: it is designed for both the 80GB and 160GB iPod Classic. This means if you have an 80GB like me, you have to use a thick rubber spacer behind it (included with the product), and therefore the case takes up just as much space as if you had the larger iPod.
Also, the rubber at the top of the screen is very thin and flexible, and it very easily pulls away from the screen protector. I would think there should be a larger lip on screen protector to keep the rubber in place. I expect over time that the rubber will stretch and cause a problem, but maybe not.
Aside from those points, it's a great thing. Rugged, nice to hold, feels like it will protect the iPod from a lot of shocks and bumps. It won't slide off your lap easily (although it won't slide into pockets easily either).

Excellent Nov 11, 2007
By Philip M. Koch The best case I've seen so far, great impact resistance and the texture makes it far easier to grip without the stickiness of some other soft cases. The belt clip rotates freely, unlike most cellphone clips it has no ratcheting mechanism.

Inadequate Protection... sort of Jun 17, 2008

This is the first case that I bought for my iPod. This case excels at absorbing drop damage due to its thick rubber shell and strong corners. I have dropped my ipod in this case several times and was glad that I had the case.
The Speck case fails in three other areas, however.
1. If you remove your iPod for any reason (docking in a standalone speaker, etc.) then the rubber around the screen will stretch out and be ruined in short order. This is very frustrating because the screen protector no longer is sealed behind the rubber and has a tendency to slide around.
2. Dust, grit, and dirt get under the rubber very easily. No big deal, right? Well not until you take the iPod out of the case and discover that the entire surface has been covered in fine scratches. The dust and grit can get in but can't get out.
3. The swivel belt clip, while useful, leaves a circle of scratchy awfulness the size of a US quarter that starts at the bottom of the Apple logo. Very irritating.
In summary the case is good for drop protection but lousy for incidental scratch protection. I blame this case 100% for destroying the resale value of my iPod due to the scratches.

Amazing! Feb 03, 2008

I've had this for about a year now - I got it when I got my iPod.
My iPod does not have a scratch on it. Why did I wait a year to write a review? I figured, "Well, it's nothing special. Just a huge bulky rubbery thing to protect my iPod." Not bulky enough to make me write a bad review, though. As expected of a huge bulky rubbery thing, when I dropped it once or twice on pavement, the iPod was protected and did not shatter into a million pieces and die.
But do you want to hear why I like this huge bulky rubbery thing? I slammed the trunk on the iPod. Several times in a row, very hard, because I did not realize that I had left the iPod there. My iPod still works. Still not a scratch on it. The belt clip on the case got stuck closed, but I managed it back apart and it also works flawlessly.
I'd recommend this. I have the black cover on my black iPod. Very good buy, I must say.
