The best cheap Zune II case Mar 26, 2008 By Sean Bloszies
If you want a solid case that covers the glass screen (the most fragile part of the zune), buy this or something very similar. Also, it's rigid so it gives a little protection against bending, as opposed to the silicone ones. They're almost cheap enough to be disposable, too. Also, mine came with a lanyard string, belt clip, and points to attach these to although these aren't in the description. Neither are great quality though. I would recommend this to frugal people like me with no money left over after they buy their zune.

This case is GREAT for the price. This case is hard plastc and can withstand a ton of punishment! I carry this case in my pocket everyday and it has scratched a little but it has kept my Zune in perfect condition. The case does not fall off! HIGHLY RECCOMDED!

For the price, this case is great.

I previously had a very similar Microsoft brand case that I bought at Target (that is no longer stocked). It did it's job, and protected my Zune for the two years. When the scratches get annoying, the concept of these type of cases is to just toss and replace. Better for the scratches to be on the case then on the actual Zune. Well, it was time to replace mine and when I saw this very comparable replacement for a whole 8 CENTS on Amazon, I jumped at the deal. It even included a lanyard and a clip. (thou, those bonuses aren't of the greatest quality). The case itself is great. And for the price is is a steal considering the original one I had cost me $20.

But there is one flaw... if you use a MONSTER FM TRANSMITTOR on a regular basis, this case will annoy you. This particular version of the clear plastic case, does not have a hole quite wide enough for the connection from the transmittor to be flush with the Zune. This results in a scratchy-at-best transmission into your car radio. I guess the covering on the transmittor wire is wider then the hole provided on the top of this case. At first site, it seemed it would be fine, since the case hole was very wide from top to bottom..... but from side to side it was narrower then the other direction. That is what causes the problem. I also verified this by taking off the case and reattaching the transmittor..... it worked perfectly. So the problem is the case. It gets in the way of the connector being flush with the Zune.

Other then that, this case is great for a PERMANENT case. I've seen other reviews about 'not being able to take it off easily'. This case isn't meant to be taken on and off. It is meant to go on the Zune and stay there. Period. However, when you do want to take it off, using a coin to pry the front and back apart via a slot on the bottom will do the trick perfectly.

The bottom line is, if you are NUTS about getting scratches on your Zune....or even getting it dirty... the full clear hard pastic cases (like this one) are the way to go. Snap it on and leave it there. It will do it's job..... and it won't get in the way of anything. (Well, except for the transmittor with this particular case version). You won't even realize it is there after awhile. It doesn't distort the screen at all. And you certainly don't have to worry about those MORONIC sticker type screen protectors that love getting air bubbles in them if there is even a molecule of dust in the room you are in when you are applying them (seriously.... I've tried!).

I highly suggest these types of cases.... just not this particular one if you use the MONSTER brand FM TRANSMITTOR. Other clear case varities do NOT have this problem.

I have not had any problems with attaching other various accessories to the Zune while using this case.

This case is the best zune 80gb case hands down. It protects the zune very well, and it covers everything, including the screen. The plastic is completely see-through, it is not cloudy like other cases I have seen. This is the best case, and since it is so cheap, it is even better. AMAZING!!!

I bought this because I needed a cheap hard case for my new 80 gb zune. I did lots of research on cases until I decided that this one was the right one for me.

Not only does the case protect your screen, it also somewhat prevents buttons from being pushed if it's in your pocket and you didn't put it on hold. I like changing music often when I listen, so it's very accessible for me to just have to pull it out and change it, and put it back in my pocket and not worry about the buttons being pushed because of the case.

The case is absolutely wonderful, I can carry my Zune around with me anywhere and not have to fear that my clumsiness will break it.
